Okay! So the midrange Galaxy Z "FE" Series was bluff. Samsung Officially Denies the Low-Cost Foldable Phones Amidst Rumors

Recent rumors suggesting that Samsung is gearing up to launch a budget-friendly or mid-range foldable phone have been debunked by the tech giant.

A spokesperson for Samsung Electronics dismissed these speculations via Press statement to a Korea publication, stating unequivocally that the company "We don't plan to manufacture foldable smartphones that are priced in the midrange, and the latest rumors are groundless"

The origin of these rumors can be traced back to TrendForce, a market analysis firm, and Tech_Reve, a tipster on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter). The latter even asserted that the purported budget Galaxy foldable phones would be priced between $400 and $500 (Roughly Near ₹40,000), a claim that has been met with skepticism given the inherent costs associated with foldable technology.

Samsung has been striving to make foldable phones more accessible by lowering their prices, but the reality is that the existing Z series comprises high-end devices equipped with premium technologies, making a substantial price reduction challenging. The intricate components, such as the hinge and foldable panel, contribute to the overall cost, leaving little room for significant price drops.

The prospect of a low-cost foldable device from Samsung faces additional challenges unless advancements in foldable display technology, hinges, and manufacturing processes lead to lower production costs.

As for Samsung's current stance on the matter, the spokesperson emphasized, "There's nothing decided on the matter." This leaves room for speculation regarding the company's potential plans, suggesting that Samsung may be exploring options for expanding its foldable phone portfolio with new and possibly more affordable models. However, no concrete evidence has emerged to support this speculation.

Whether Samsung is working on a budget-friendly foldable phone remains uncertain. The spokesperson's statement implies that, at most, the idea has been contemplated internally, with no concrete steps taken or communication with suppliers.

Even if Samsung does have plans to introduce a third foldable phone model in the future, it is unlikely to be priced at $500 or less. The complexities of foldable technology and associated manufacturing costs make achieving such a price point challenging in the current landscape.

For consumers seeking a more affordable foldable option, the suggestion is to keep an eye on potential deals, especially around events like Black Friday in US and Festive offers in India. The Galaxy Z Flip 5 is highlighted as a potential candidate, and Samsung's enhanced trade-in discounts may offer an opportunity to secure a foldable device at a more accessible price point.
